Director’s Note
This issue of caBIG™ Links highlights the importance of increased collaboration and connectivity across cancer centers, research labs, and hospitals, and the steps caBIG™ is taking to establish a true cancer research network as we move into the Enterprise Phase.
In “Getting Connected with caBIG™”, we focus on the resources being produced by caBIG™ to facilitate adoption among a broader segment of the cancer research community. These resources include “bundles” of caBIG™ software that can be distributed to institutions as well as interaction with “early adopters” of caBIG™.
Two applications from the In Vivo Imaging Workspace, the National Cancer Imaging Archive and caIMAGE, are featured in “The National Cancer Imaging Archive and caIMAGE: Enabling Standardization and Collaboration”. These tools are designed to help streamline the sharing and analyses of imaging data culled from research centers around the country, a vital development given the increased reliance on imaging in both clinical care and biomedical research.
This issue is a great resource for those interested in learning about what we are working on to facilitate the development of a network of cancer researchers and how to become involved.
Sincerely,
Kenneth H. Buetow, Ph.D.
