Director’s Note

Welcome to the first issue of Links, the online monthly newsletter describing recent developments at NCI’s cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid™ (caBIG™) project.

One purpose of Links is to highlight institutions and people around the country who are putting caBIG™ resources to work in cancer research projects. In this issue, we describe how researchers at Duke’s Comprehensive Cancer Center are benefiting from the use of C3D, a clinical trials data management program.

Another purpose of Links is to inform the public of significant developments in the caBIG™ project. An exciting new caBIG™ initiative described in this issue, the caBIG™ Enterprise Support Network, will help further the integration of caBIG™ software into the research community by offering new avenues for enhanced support. This initiative will make it easier for interested institutions to put caBIG™ technology into action as part of their search for better patient treatments.

We invite you to share these stories with your colleagues, and thank you for your continued support of caBIG™. Our ongoing collaboration is essential to speed the discovery and delivery of new and more effective treatments against cancer.

Sincerely,
