Director’s Note
This issue of caBIG™ Links features highlights from the recent joint conference of caBIG™ and the United Kingdom’s parallel organization for cancer informatics, the National Cancer Research Institute's Informatics Initiative. Many ideas were exchanged and collaborations initiated at this exciting gathering of researchers who are similarly passionate about global cancer research data exchanges.
The technology featured in this issue of the newsletter is caTissue, an open source tool from the Tissue Banks and Pathology Tools (TBPT) Workspace. The caTissue software tool is a vital part of the caBIG™ portfolio and specifically addresses the pervasive challenge of locating and accessing a statistically significant number of appropriate biospecimens for use in research investigations.
This issue is a great resource for those seeking to learn more about how software tools developed through caBIG™ are changing the landscape of cancer research nationwide, and the joint conference feature details a few of the ways in which caBIG™ projects are having a significant impact on data exchange worldwide.
Sincerely,
